Steps:
Step 1: Gather required documents
Evidence that you have been legally residing in Belize and that your are financially stable.
Step 2: Submission of application
** Submit your application at any Immigration Office authorized to accept residence application.
** The accepting officer will schedule an interview date for yourself and the referees. Please note that the interview will be held at the office where the application was submitted.
** A receipt of acceptance will be given to you with the assigned file number for your application. This file number is required when inquiring into your application status.
** It is important that you remain legal in Belize in conformity with your current immigration status. (ie. student, dependent, employment permits).
Step 3: Interview with Immigration
** The interview is scheduled within two weeks of submission of application, you and your spouse will be interviewed.
** You are required to bring your acceptance receipt and your passport.
** Your referees must accompany you to the interview and they must bring their respective identification.
Step 4: Interview with Police Department
The Police Department Special Branch conducts an interview with you at your home residence. The police department conducts this interview within 3 months after the completion of the Immigration Interview.
Step 5: Notification by the Immigration Office
** Your application will be vetted by the Nationality Department in accordance to the Belize Nationality Act. You will thereafter be contacted on the outcome of your application.
** The Immigration office will notify you when your application has been approved or if you require the submission of additional documents.
Step 6: Payment and Submission of Security Bond
On approval of your application, you are required to visit an Immigration Office to make payment. Reference the Fees section for the amount to be paid. You must provide the Security Bond Form along with the sureties’
** Copy of Belize Passport or
** Copy of Belize Voter’s Identification card
Step 7: Deliver of Residence Card
Your card can be picked up from the Belmopan Immigration Office 5 days after payment.
Fees For Belize Residence Card
Fees with effect from 1 May 2020.
Permanent Residence Fees:
Permanent Residence fees are based on applicant’s nationality. Permanent Residence fee for Minors is 50% of Adult Fee based on Nationality. All fees are in Belize dollar.

Temporary Residence:
** Temporary Residence status is valid for only ONE year.
** Temporary residence fee is 1/5 of permanent residence fee based on your nationality.
** The temporary residence status may be renewed every year.
Replacement of Residence Card:
The cost for the replacement of a lost, stolen or mutilated card is BZ$300.00.

Permanent Residence:
For the submission of your residence application you are required to present the original documents. These documents will be returned to you on acceptance of application. Along with the original documents, a copy of these documents must be submitted.

Temporary Residence:
