FTRB Fiji Teachers Registration

Categories of Registration:
There are three categories of registration:
** Limited Authority To Teach [LATT] or
** Special Authority to Teach

** Provisional Registration
** Full Registration

Limited Authority to Teach (LATT):
To enable a person with skills or experience to advance the learning of students in a school who may not have the teaching qualifications. In addition applicants must be of good character, have a police clearance, a medical clearance and also be fit to be a teacher.

Individual applicants fill in their particulars using the FTRB 4 forms. In addition applicants will need to supply the following documentation with their applications:
** Original birth certificates
** Medical Clearance
** Police Clearance
** Copies of Academic qualifications
** Passport Photo

Institutional Registration[LATT]:
To fill in their particulars in the relevant FTRB 5 a,b, or c forms.

Provisional Registration:
** Available for a person that has successfully completed a teacher training from a recognized institution.
** Has complied with the Boards requirements.
** Has contributed to educational practice and has the qualification and experience
** Is of good character
** Is fit to be a teacher

Applicants fill in their particulars using the FTRB 1 forms. In addition applicants will need to supply the following documentation with their applications:
** Original Birth Certificates
** Medical clearance
** Good character report
** Copies of academic qualifications
** Passport Photo

Full Registration:
To move from Provisional Registraion to Full Registration,
** The teacher must have successfully completed teacher training course from an approved institutions
** Has complied with the Boards requirements.
** Have been provisional registration
** Has taught for one year atleast

Applicants fill in their particulars using the FTRB 1 forms. In addition applicants will need to supply the following documentation with their applications:
** Original Birth Certificates
** Medical clearance
** Good character report
** Copies of academic qualifications
** Passport Photo

Fees :
Limited Authority to Teach (LATT) :
** $25 for individuals applying for LATT
** $250 for institutions applying for LATT
** LATT is issued for a period of 2 years

Provisional Registration :
** $25 for individuals applying for LATT
** $250 for institutions applying for LATT
Duration: Annually or for 3 years

Full Registration :
** $30 for individuals applying for a year
** $250 for institutions applying for 3 years

About Us :
The 14 member Board was appointed by the Honorable Minister for Education soon after the Fiji Teachers Registration Board Promulgation was endorsed by Cabinet in 2008.

The main role of the Board is to advise the Minister on issues as pertained to the registration of teachers and knowledge providers within the local school system. This may include issues such as qualifications, discipline and competencies to name a few.

The child being the most important priority in the registration equation, the Board needs to ensure that only the best qualified teachers in all sense of the word are allowed into the classrooms to teach.
