Online Student Bus Pass Application :
A student Greencard allows a student to have either a discount or free bus travel. Without a Greencard the student may have to pay the standard student fare. If the student travels on a non-Metro bus service, and pays a fare, they will still need to purchase a ticket from the driver.

Eligibility:
A student is eligible for a Student Bus Pass up to and including the school year in which they turn 18 and attends full-time classes at a recognised:
** Primary or secondary school (kindergarten to Year 10)
** Senior secondary college (Years 11 and 12)
** Tas TAFE
** Australian Technical College
** University
Who is NOT eligible to apply for a Student Greencard? :
Students who;
** will turn 19 or more in the year of study
** Travel between home and school on a free rural bus service
** Attend an Registered Training Organisation, not recognised by the Department of Education
Online Student Bus Pass Application:
Applying for a new Student Bus Pass online is the most efficient way to obtain your pass.

Please note the cut-off date to apply for a new student bus pass for the current school year is the 15th of November.

What Bus Pass Do I Need** :
A Student Greencard allows a student to travel on (non Metro) fare Charging services for a discounted fare. If you do not present a Student Greencard on boarding the bus you will need to pay the standard student fare per trip.

Transfer Bus Pass:
If there is no alternative but to transfer from one fare charging bus service to another to complete travel to and from school you can apply for a Transfer Bus Pass. The holder of a Transfer Bus Pass will only need to pay a fare on one leg of their journey.
Bus Pass for Free Travel:
Care and Protection Order:
If you are applying for a Student Bus Pass for Free Travel under the Care and Protection Order your application will not be processed until a support letter confirming your Care and Protection Order status is received. The support letter should be on departmental letterhead and written by your case manager or worker.
Concession Card Scheme:
If you are the holder of current Pensioner Concession Card issued by Centrelink or Department of Veterans Affairs or hold a Health Care Card and the student(s) are listed as a dependant, you can apply for a Student Bus Pass for Free Travel. Because the system will verify your eligibility with Centrelink while you are online applying for a pass under this eligibility, applications can only be completed during the following times; Monday to Friday – 4am to 9pm and Saturday 4am to 6pm
Where the student is less than 16 years of age and also the Concession Card holder, the online application system cannot be used, and a paper application with a photocopy of the concession card will need to be submitted. This is required as it is Centrelink’s policy not to release concession details of a person less than 16 years of age.
