Please be advised that this fee is not refundable and once the transaction has been accepted, you will not be able to cancel your pre-payment. As a reminder, the CAA undertook a funding review as part of its programme. On successful completion of your transaction, you will receive a confirmation receipt to your nominated email address. The receipt number needs to be quoted to your Medical Examiner at the time of booking your appointment.
You will have the option of identifying and selecting a CAA Medical Examiner; however, this is not mandatory. A list can be found on the Medical Certification site, click here. If you select a Medical Examiner as part of this transaction, we will email a copy of your transaction to that Medical Examiner.
There are some basic details we need to process your transaction such as your name, email address and preferred payment option. More details can be found on the right hand side of this screen.
If you are resident outside of New Zealand (i.e. you are a non-resident for New Zealand tax purposes) then GST will be excluded from the medical fee
Basic details you need:
Name:
Your name (Given names and Surname) is important because we need to be able to identify you with your transaction.
Nominated Email Address:
We will send your payment confirmation (receipt) to your nominated email address.
CAA Identification Number:
If known, this is your unique CAA issued 5 digit identification number. However, if you do not have one, you are still able to continue with the transaction. Your Medical Examiner will apply to the CAA for an identification number on your behalf.
Identifying a Medical Examiner:
You will have the option of selecting a CAA Medical Examiner whose responsibility it is to conduct the examination and/or assessment.

Why do I have to pay a fee now when I didn’t have to before?
** The CAA undertook a funding review as part of its programme to ensure its long term ability to achieve safety objectives, apply good business practice and financial management, and address drivers for change.
** The review was intended to make sure that activities to renew the organisation can be maintained.
How much must I pay?
** You can expect to pay New Zealand (NZD) $120.75 (GST inclusive where applicable) regardless of whether this is your first application or you are renewing your medical certificate.

What is GST?
** GST is a Goods and Services Tax which is applied to most goods and services in New Zealand. GST is added to the price of taxable goods and services at a rate of 15%.
Can I expect a refund?
** The Medical Certification Application fee is a non-refundable fee. However, refer to the Terms and Conditions for exceptions.
