NSW Apply for a Vessel Registration
If you need to register your vessel, check the Roads and Maritime Services website for the list of vessels that must be registered, as well as for criteria and exemptions.

You must be at least 16 years old to register a vessel. Once you’ve gathered your documentation, you can either mail in your application, or book an appointment to complete the registration in person at a service centre.
Once you have your registration, you can access it digitally using your smartphone or tablet device. You’ll need to have a My Service NSW Account and the latest version of the Service NSW app. You can then add Maritime to your My Service NSW Account.
What You’ll Need?
** your proof of identity
** the Application for Vessel Registration form
** the Maritime transaction payments (credit card authority) form if applicable
** the proof of acquisition
** the HIN (Boat Code) certificate (if you require one you need to organise an inspection with a Boat Code Agent), and
** the Australian Builders Plate (ABP) if the vessel was built on or after 1 July 2006.

** Download, print and complete the Maritime transaction payments (credit card authority) form – PDF (if applicable).
** Make sure that you have all the required documentation and information.
** Book an appointment to lodge your application in person at a service centre, or post to

Payment Methods
For online or phone transactions, you can pay with :
** credit or debit card (MasterCard, Visa, or American Express).
For transactions in person at a service centre, you can pay with :
** cash (in Australian currency)
** cheque (personal, bank or agency drawn)
** money order
** credit or debit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express* or EFTPOS), or
** Android Pay app.
Please note that you may need to pay a merchant fee when paying by credit or debit card. * Unfortunately, some locations may not accept American Express.
Cancel a Vessel Registration
If you want to cancel your vessel registration, you can do this at a service centre or by mail.
What you’ll need :
** a written request to cancel your registration
** the Request for Refund Form (Maritime) – PDF (if applicable), and
** your proof of identity.
