Home Affairs Applying for Australian Trusted Trader

Australian Trusted Trader is a voluntary trade facilitation initiative. It recognises businesses with a secure supply chain and compliant trade practices, rewarding accredited businesses with a range of trade facilitation benefits.

Australian Trusted Trader is an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme. AEOs work to secure the international supply chain, while facilitating the movement of legitimate trade.

Benefits

Current benefits for accredited Trusted Traders include :

** streamlined Accredited Sponsor process for Temporary Work (Skilled) Visa (subclass 457) Programme

Eligibility

Australian Trusted Trader is free to join and accreditation is available to all Australian businesses that are active in the international trade supply chain, and meet or exceed the required standards.

Eligibility requirements :
** an Australian Business Number (ABN)
** two years history of participation in international trade activities
** the ability to demonstrate financial solvency.

How to Apply?

To apply :
** register for an immiAccount and obtain a login
** complete the streamlined application form in ImmiAccount
** be verified through an on-site validation
** enter into an ATT agreement

After extensive industry feedback, the ATT application form has been completely redesigned to make it quicker to complete. The simplified form mainly consists of a series of yes/no style questions to gather information about your business.

The new application form should take approximately 2-10 hours to complete (a significant drop from 200 hours), depending on the size and complexity of your business. You are not required to use a consultant to complete any part of the application process.

When completing the application form you can now nominate a suitable time and date for the on-site validation so that your business can move quickly through the process. The entire accreditation process can take as little as six weeks.

Application Process

Registering for your immiAccount :
To begin your application process, you will need to register for an immiAccount and obtaining a login. You can use your login details to access your account at any time during the application process.

Completing The Application Form :
From your ImmiAccount, you will be able to access the new, streamlined application form will take approximately 2-10 hours to complete, depending on the size of your business.

You will be asked to provide detailed information about your business, operations, trade compliance and international supply chain security measures as well as the business name, ABN and contact details. this is completed by answering a series of yes/no style questions.

You will need to declare that your business is financially solvent, you have at least two years of trading history, and individuals applying on behalf of a business will be required to acknowledge that they have been granted authority to do so by the business.

Validation Process :
An on-site validation will be conducted by your Australian Border Force contact officer to verify the information provided in your application. Your Australian Border Force contact officer will contact you to arrange a time for the validation.

This site visit enables us to see your business’ trade compliance and supply chain security measures in practice. This process should take one day per business premise that is visited.

The visit will include verification of the following controls :
** ICT related
** physical security
** personnel security
** selection of third party suppliers.
