Registration of Driving Instructors :
No person shall act as a Driving Instructor unless that person has been duly certified by the DVLA.

Requirements :
Applicant must;
** Register at the NVTI (Accra), attend the Driving Instructor Course and obtain certification.
** Pay for driving instructor registration.

International Driving Permit

1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (as Amended in 2011). An International Driving Permit (IDP) is an identity document that allows the holder to drive a private motor vehicle in any country that recognises IDPs.

To be valid, the IDP must be accompanied by a valid driving licence. International Driving Permit issued by the Authority is not valid in Ghana and is valid for 1 year from the date of issue.

** Have a valid driver’s licence.
** Have Two recent passport size pictures.

Procedure :
All applicants will be required to;
** Obtain and authenticate their Driver’s Licence at the DVLA.
** Pay the prescribed fees, obtain and fill required forms.

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) is a public-sector organisation under the Ministry of Transport. It was established in 1999 by an Act of Parliament (Act 569), 1999. DVLA replaced the Vehicle Examination and Licensing Division (VELD). By the Act, DVLA is to provide a regulated framework for an enhanced and more effective administration of drivers and vehicles. DVLA was weaned off government subvention in March, 2016.
