About CDFIPB :
The Civil Defence, Immigration and Prisons Service Board (CDIPB) was established by Decree No. 14 of July, 1986 as the ‘Customs, Immigration and Prisons Services Board’ under the Chairmanship of the Honourable Minister of Internal Affairs.

The Board was charged with the responsibility of administering the Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA) of 1958, the Immigration Act of 1963 and the Prisons Act of 1972.

Functions of the Board

In accordance with section 3 of its enabling Decree, the Board is responsible for :
** Formulating the general policy guidelines for Customs, Immigration and Prisons Services
** Administering the Customs and Excise Management Act i958, the Immigration Act 1963, and the Prisons Act 1972.

Consequently, subject to the general control of the Minister, the Board controls and manages the administration of the customs and excise, immigration, and prisons laws and collects the revenues of customs and excise and accounts for them In such manner as the Minister directs from time to time.

Standing Committee of the Board :
Statutorily, in order to facilitate the effective performance of its functions, the Board has two Standing Committees, namely :
** Board appointment and Promotion Committee (BAPC); and
** Board Disciplinary and General Purpose Committee (BDGPC)

Board Appointment and Promotion Committee (BAPC) :
Under the chairmanship of one of the Commissioners, it has the other Commissioner and the Chiefs of the Services, the Legal Adviser of the Ministry and the Secretary of the Board as members.

An administrative Officer from the Secretariat of the Board, usually Head of the Appointment and Promotion Division, is Secretary to this Committee that handles, on preliminary and advisory basis, issues relating to appointment and promotion (including upgrading, advancement, transfer of service and secondment).

Board Disciplinary and General Purpose Committee (BDGPC) :
Under the chairmanship of one of the Commissioners, it has the other Commissioner, the Chiefs of Services, the Legal Adviser of the Ministry and the Secretary of the Board, as members.
