Local Governance and Community Development Program (LGCDP)-II has initialized Online Vital Registration (Birth,Marriage,Divorce,Migration and Death).

Having Internet access,anyone from anywhere can apply for their Birth Registration,which is required further for other registrations (Marriage, Divorce, Migration and Death), registered by Municipality Staff. Mechinagar Municipality has started Online Registration from 1st Bhaishak,207
Steps :
** After link is opened,click on “new add”
** Fill the form and at last entry your mobile number.
** After submission,message will be sent with a Token Number to the entered Mobile Number.
** Contact Municipality office within 30 days after the token Number is received.
** The Token Number will not be valid after 30 days and need to register again.
Mechinagar Municipality initially originated by combining Dhulabari and Kakarbhitta Village Development Committee. The municipality got its first territorial expansion by merging with nearby VDCs Bahundangi, Duhagadhi, Jyamirgadhi and Dhaijan in 2073 BS (2017 AD). The population of the expanded city is 131,520 (as of the 2021 census), and its area is 192.52 sq. km. The municipality is the municipality with the highest population in the country.
The city lies in the eastern part of Nepal. The city is the largest municipality in the Jhapa District. The city has Arjundhara Municipality and Birtamod in the Western Part, Buddha Shanti Gaupalika and Ilam District in the North, Bhadrapur, Mechi in the South and West Bengal, India in the East. Mechi River separates the City and Nepal from India.
Two major highways, Mahendra Highway & Mechi Highway, run in the city. The city is the link between the Northern Mechi Zone for the rest of the nation. The nearest airport is Bhadrapur Airport, which is just attached to the Southern part of the city. Daily 6-8 flights make it to Kathmandu two ways from the airport.

Mechinagar Municipality was constituted in 1998 (2053 B.S.) by integrating the Kakarvitta and Dhulabari VDC’s.The municipal head quarter is at Ittabhatta,National highway leading to Kakarvitta.
This Municipality is situated on the eastern border of the “Mechi” zone of Nepal.Hence,its name came from Mechi River.Its geographical area is a strip of narrow tract of level alluvial terrain.
Altitude of this municiplaity is approximately 300 ft above sea level.Mechinagar is the main gateway to East Nepal,known as Kakarvitta. Historically,Mechinagar municipality is multi ethic municipal with diverse language,religions and cultural traditions.
Inspite of the clear diversity in ethnic/caste composition of Mechinagar’s population,the 2009 social survey demostrates that nearly 90%of the total population belogs to just 4 major groups
