FAQs :
1. What is the Electronic Visa Update System?
The Electronic Visa Update System, or EVUS, is an automated system that determines eligibility to travel to the United States for temporary business or pleasure on a 10-year U.S. visitor Visa, class B1, B2, or B1/B2.

Travelers who fit this description must enroll with EVUS prior to travel to the United States.

2. What type of Visa do I need to enroll with EVUS?
A 10-year U.S. visitor Visa, class B1, B2 or B1/B2.

3. What is the difference between EVUS and a Visa?
An EVUS is not a Visa. It does not meet the legal or regulatory requirements to serve as a U.S. Visa when a Visa is required under U.S. law.

Travelers who plan to travel to the United States as visitors must possess a valid visitor Visa, class B1, B2 or B1/B2.

Travelers who are People’s Republic of China citizens / Nationals with B1, B2, or B1/B2 10 year valid Visas only, are required to enroll with EVUS and must have a Visa prior to travel.

If you are enrolled with EVUS and arrive at the airport the traveler will be able to travel to the United States. Any other class of Visa that is not B1, B2, or B1/B2 with a 10 year validity will not be required to apply for an EVUS.

4. If I have made travel plans, when should I enroll with EVUS?
You may enroll at any time prior to travel to the United States. The Department of Homeland Security recommends that travelers enroll in EVUS at least 72 hours prior to travel.

Unless revoked, EVUS are valid for two years from the date of authorization, or until 6 months from when your Passport expires, or until your U.S. Visa expires.

5. How long does it take to enroll with EVUS?
If all the information required is available to you, it will take approximately 20 minutes.
