Track progress :
The ‘Your dealings with the Tax Office’ function on the menu allows you to track the progress of your interactions with us.

The types of enquiries (dealings) included are:
1.Portal:
Email Messages:
Your Business Portal mailbox is where you can securely send and receive messages (and attachments) related to your dealings with the ATO.

Using the Business Portal mailbox
Once you have logged into the portal, select Mail from the menu. Here you can perform all the necessary email tasks in a secure environment:

Send new messages:
** Send a separate message for each subject
** Ensure you attach all supporting documentation, up to a maximum of six attachments per mail, limited to 4MB per each attachment.
** After sending your message, you will receive a receipt number.

Reply to messages

Receive replies from us

Set up email notifications:
You can be notified at your preferred email address when we have sent you a message to your Business Portal mailbox.
Simply select Email notification on the right side of the inbox, click Setup and enter your email address, or update it.

Email notifications will always be from our trusted email address

Track the progress of your messages:
Use the ‘Your dealings with the Tax Office’ on the menu to track the progress of your interactions with us.

Online Forms :
Online forms on the Business Portal provides access to three types of forms:
** private ruling application and objection
** auditor actuary contravention report
** superannuation guarantee charge statement

When the form is submitted, you will receive a receipt number. You can track progress of online forms by receipt number using the ‘Your dealings with the Tax Office’ function in the portal

Refund Requests:
To request a refund for an account in credit or a transfer of funds between eligible accounts held by you:
** Select Account details from the Business Portal menu, then
** From either the Account list screen or the Itemised account screen, select the Refund request or Transfer request button.

You will need to include the amount of refund/transfer, the reason for your request and your contact details.

After submitting your request, you will receive a receipt number. A copy of your request will be stored in your Mail – Sent items. The transfer/refund is not immediate as it is subject to our scrutiny and integrity checks

Note:
If the initial enquiry was sent as a portal message, you can search on the item using the portal receipt number issued to you when you submitted the message.

You can find the receipt number in your portal mailbox ‘sent items’.
