Wits NSFAS Application Status

Student ID is Person Number and Password is date of birth in YYMMDD format.

If you are unable to register on the day set aside for you, you may request permission to register on an alternate date, which if granted, will be communicated to you. Please note that the request does not guarantee the permission. You may forfeit your place should this permission not be granted.

** View your Financial Aid Application (NSFAS) status or your Scholarship and Bursary application status (if applicable)

Apply Online

To apply online, go to: www.wits.ac.za/applications/
** You may apply for a maximum three degrees.

** If you apply for two programmes within one faculty, you are advised to apply for one programme in a less restricted faculty (e.g. Humanities, Commerce or Science).
** Try to keep your options open, especially when applying for programmes in Faculties such as Health Sciences or Engineering.

** A non-refundable application fee of R100 for South African citizens, and R700 for international applicants, is required.

Pay Application Fee :
** Non-refundable application fee of R100 for South African citizens
** Non-refundable application fee for International citizens of R700
** Payments to be made before closing dates.

Deposit exact amount into the University’s account :

** Pay by cash or credit card at the Wits Fees Office, Ground Floor, Solomon Mahlangu House (Senate House), Braamfontein Campus East, Jorissen Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, South Africa
** EFT – Use unique payment number as a reference.

Additional forms :

Additional Simplified Procedure

You can check your Wits NSFAS application status online by following these steps:
1. Go to the Wits Student Self-Service portal: https://self-service.wits.ac.za/
2. Log in using your student number and password.
3. Click on the “Financial Aid” tab.
4. Click on the “Allowances and Accommodation” link.
5. Your NSFAS application status will be displayed on this page.

The possible statuses are:
** Application Received: Your application has been received by NSFAS.
** Application Under Review: NSFAS is reviewing your application.
** Application Approved: Your application has been approved by NSFAS.
** Application Declined: Your application has been declined by NSFAS.
** Application Pending: NSFAS is waiting for additional information from you.

If you have any questions about your NSFAS application status, you can contact the NSFAS call center.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind:
** You can only check your NSFAS application status online if you have applied for NSFAS through Wits University.
** You can check your NSFAS application status anytime after you have submitted your application.
** The NSFAS application status may take a few weeks to be updated.
