About Us :
The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) was established on 1st July 2005, under the Universities Act (Chapter 346 of the Laws of Tanzania) to succeed the former Higher Education Accreditation Council which had been in operation since 1995.

It is a body corporate mandated to recognize, approve, register and accredit Universities operating in Tanzania, and local or foreign University level programs being offered by registered higher education institutions.

TCU also coordinates the proper functioning of all university institutions in Tanzania so as to foster a harmonized higher education system in the country. In order to ensure that such a harmonious higher education system does not compromise institutional peculiarities and autonomy, each University has the legal right to operate under its own charter.

FAQ On TCU Central Admission System

What is TCU CAS?
TCU CAS is a centralized admission system for higher education institutions in Tanzania. It was established by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) in 2012 to streamline the admission process and ensure that all applicants have a fair chance of being admitted to a university.

How does TCU CAS work?
TCU CAS allows applicants to apply to multiple universities and programmes through a single online portal. Applicants can select their preferred universities and programmes, and TCU CAS will automatically rank them according to their academic qualifications. The universities will then select the applicants who meet their admission criteria.

Who can use TCU CAS?
TCU CAS is open to all applicants who have completed their secondary education in Tanzania. Applicants must have a minimum of two principal passes in their Form Four examinations.

How do I apply for TCU CAS?
To apply for TCU CAS, you must first create an account on the TCU CAS website. Once you have created an account, you can start applying to universities and programmes. You will need to provide your personal information, your academic qualifications, and your preferred universities and programmes.

Additional Simplified Procedure

The Tanzania TCU Central Admission System (TACAS) is an online system that allows students to apply to accredited universities in Tanzania. The system was launched in 2014 to streamline the admission process and make it more efficient.

Once you have registered for TACAS, you can start applying to universities. You can choose up to three universities to apply to. You will need to submit an application form, an essay, and letters of recommendation. You will also need to pay the application fee.

The application deadline for TACAS is usually in May. The results of the admission process are announced in July.
