** Welcome to the Register of practitioners (also known as the public register). If someone’s name appears on this register, they are registered and can practice within the scope of their registration.
** We also have a list of cancelled practitioners and a list of practitioners who have given an undertaking not to practice.

** If a practitioner’s name does not appear on the register, they are not registered to practice in Australia1.
** AHPRA’s online, national register of practitioners is accurate, up to date and publishes the current registration status of every health practitioner registered in Australia.

** The register is always available, free to use, updated continuously and is the only reliable source of information about practitioners’ registration status.
** There is no gap between being granted registration and appearing on the register.

** Ensure you check that someone is registered :
i. use the online register to verify the information provided by the practitioner is accurate and up to date
ii. don’t rely on a hard copy print out of a register entry
iii. if a practitioner’s name does not appear on the register, or you have questions about the details shown on the national register, call AHPRA on 1300 419 495.

It is important that you are searching for the name the practitioner has used for their registration and use the correct spelling in your search. This may be different to the name the practitioner is known by.

Search the Register of practitioners :
** To search for a health practitioner, enter their family name or registration number. A maximum of 50 results will be returned. Complete more fields to narrow your search.
** If you can’t find someone on the register check you have the correct spelling of their name and make sure you search for the name they used for registration. This can be different from the name they use to practice.

** If you have trouble finding someone on the register who you think should be there, call us on 1300 419 495.
** It’s an offense to present as a registered health practitioner in Australia if you are not.

Registration renewal due dates :
** Nurses and midwives are due to renew their registration by 31 May every year.
** Most medical practitioners are due to renew their registration by 30 September every year.
** Other health practitioners are due to renew their registration by 30 November every year.
