Apply for a WA Seniors Card

** It is advised that you read the full set of terms and conditions before applying for a WA Seniors Card.
** Your WA Seniors Card does not need to be renewed, however, please advise the WA Seniors Card Centre if you change your address or lose your card.

Eligibility :
To be eligible for a WA Seniors Card you must meet the following criteria:
1. Age :
** The qualifying age for the WA Seniors Card is 61-years-old.
** The age to qualify for a WA Seniors Card will then increase to 65 by 1 July 2023.

The following table indicates the age applicants must be to apply :

1 July 1955 to 30 June 1956 61 years
1 July 1956 to 30 June 1957 62 years
1 July 1957 to 30 June 1958 63 years
1 July 1958 to 30 June 1959 64 years
After 30 June 1959 65 years

** You must be a permanent resident of Western Australia. If you are actually present in Western Australia for more than half the year, whether continuously or intermittently, you may be said to have a constructive residence in Western Australia unless permanent residence is actually outside Western Australia.

** This includes holders of the Retirement Visa (sub class 410) or Investor Retirement Visa (subclass 405) who have lived in WA for a minimum of five years and reside in WA for a minimum of six months each year.

** You must work 25 hours or less per week, averaged over 12 month period. This allows for circumstances such as doing shift work, monthly or fortnightly rosters and seasonal work.

** If any of your circumstances change that may affect your eligibility, you must notify the WA Seniors Card Centre immediately. If you fail to do so and you continue to use the WA Seniors Card when you are no longer eligible your WA Seniors Card will be deemed cancelled from the time you cease to be eligible and you may be committing a criminal offence by continuing to use it.

** The WA Seniors Card Centre reserves the right to request information from you from time to time to confirm your continued eligibility for a WA Seniors Card. You must co-operate fully with any request for information. Failure to do so may result in your WA Seniors Card being suspended or cancelled.

Identification :
** When applying for a WA Seniors Card you must provide proof of your identity, date of birth and permanent residence in Western Australia. You will be required to provide identification that adds up to at least 100 points (see table 1).

** If your name is different to your identification documents, the following documents can be provided: Marriage Certificate, Divorce Papers, Change of Name Certificate from Registrar General. These documents do not contribute to the 100 point identification score and only verifies your name change.

** If you are unable to provide us a copy of either an Australian Birth Certificate, Australian Passport or Australian Citizenship certificate, you will need to demonstrate that you satisfy the permanent residency requirement.

** To satisfy this requirement you must provide us a copy of your visa grant notification letter issued by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection that indicates you have a permanent visa.

** If you are applying by post, you must provide a copy of each identification document. The photocopy submitted must be legible to read. The WA Seniors Card Centre may contact you to resend your documents should they not be legible to read.

** A WA Seniors Card will only be issued in your name as shown on your identification documents.
** If you are applying for a replacement card, the replacement card will be sent to your current address. If your address has changed, you will need to update the details.

2. Residency :
** You must be a permanent resident of Western Australia.

3. Employment :
** You must work 25 hours or less per week, averaged over a 12-month period.
** This allows for circumstances such as doing shift work, monthly or fortnightly rosters and seasonal work.

** Download the WA Seniors Card application form ,or alternatively pick up a copy at the WA Seniors Card Centre or at your local Australia Post outlet.
