Apply for permit to work on a road :

** A guide is available to inform contractors on how to apply, the technical requirements and the conditions of approval for a permit to work within the NT government road network.

The guide contains the following :
** application for permit form
** how to apply
** application for temporary speed limit authorisation
** application for portable traffic signals authorisation
** contacts
** conditions for approval
** preliminary clauses

Technical requirements including :
** traffic management
** earthworks
** directional boring
** landscaping.

How to apply :
** Download a copy of the permit application form and technical requirements (see above)
** Is the project a private development? If you are unsure, contact the Department of Transport development approval officer on (08) 8924 7104 for advice or development approval.
** if yes, obtain development approval from the Road Network’s Private Development Officer then go to step 3
** if no, go to step 3.

Do you have a Traffic Management Plan according to AS 1742.3 and the Department of Infrastructure specifications?
** ** if yes, go to step 4
** ** if no, obtain Traffic Management advice or plans from an NT accredited traffic control practitioner WZ1 then go to step 4.

** Fax, email, post or deliver your permit application with all of the required attachments for processing to the civil construction office in the respective region (see contact list below).
** The permits officer shall provide an estimate of applicable fees and charges.
** If the permit is granted go to step 6. If the permit is not granted, discuss with the Department of Infrastructure then resubmit the permit application and all supporting documents.
** Pay the Receiver of Territory Monies (RTM) or BPAY the fees and charges and provide a copy of the receipt to the permits office.
** Approval granted.
** Work can now proceed upon the receipt of written approval and in accordance with all of the terms and conditions contained within the guide.
